Halifax Academy Class of 2024 Senior Spotlight:
Elana Rook is a member of the National Senior Beta Club. She also actively participates as a Student Government Association member and currently serves as the senior class treasurer. She had the distinction of being a junior marshal.
In Elana’s spare time, she enjoys reading, baking, cooking, watching movies, and spending time with family and friends. Elana also worked for Drugco Pharmacy and volunteered for the local Boys and Girls Club.
Elana plans to attend Halifax Community College in the fall and pursue a nursing degree. She then hopes to obtain her esthetician license from Paul Mitchell, the School Raleigh. Elana lives in Roanoke Rapids and is the daughter of Kim and Ted Rook. She has one older sister, Sarah.

Devan Ferrell ran cross country and played football during his time at Halifax Academy. He also was a member of the Shooting Team. In Devan’s spare time, he enjoys practicing and performing vocals and guitar with his band, F.F.M. During the summers, he has worked for Floyd’s Body Shop. Upon high school graduation, Devan plans to continue working while he pursues a real estate license and his musical career. He is the son of Tammie and Chris Ferrell from Littleton. Devan has one younger brother, Kennan. Congratulations, Devan!

Leah Boone is an Octagon Club member. She also actively participates as a Student Government Association member and currently serves as the senior class representative. Leah has been in journalism for two years and is the yearbook editor.
Leah is a member of Enterprise Baptist Church. In Leah’s spare time, she enjoys listening to music, participating in church and youth group activities, and spending time with family and friends. Leah worked for Sunset Slush last summer and looks forward to returning this summer.
Leah plans to attend Halifax Community College in the fall and pursue a criminal justice degree. She lives in Littleton and is the daughter of Mary Boone and Tim Boone. She has two older siblings, Josh and Sarah.
Halifax Academy Class of 2024 Senior Spotlight:
Berkley Garner is a member of the Monogram and Octagon Clubs. She is also a member of our Student Government Association and serves as senior class secretary. Berkley played volleyball and softball during her time at HA and received All-Conference and All-State recognitions in both sports since the eighth grade. She also was a member of the HA swim team in grades 7-10. Berkley had the distinction of being our 2023 homecoming queen.
Outside of school, Berkley enjoys playing sports, riding four-wheelers, fishing, shopping, painting, tanning, wake surfing, and spending time at the lake and beach. Berkley also played travel softball from ages 6 to 14. She is a certified lifeguard and has worked for the pool in Jackson for the past three summers. Berkley also worked for Creative Designs.
Berkley plans to attend Wake Technical Community College in the fall and pursue a nursing degree. She is getting a jump start on her education by taking the certified nursing assistant course at Halifax Community College this summer. Berkley looks forward to caring for others' health needs as she pursues a career in the medical field. Berkley is the daughter of Crystal and Mark Garner of Pleasant Hill. She has one older sister, Ashton.

While at Halifax Academy, Curt Bunting played basketball in grades 7-10 and football in the 10th grade. He was a member of the Shooting Team in grades 7-12. Curt works as a mechanic for Pickin’ Pines, Inc. In Curt’s spare time, he enjoys spending time with friends, driving around in his truck, and playing video games. Upon graduation, Curt plans to continue working and attend Halifax Community College in the fall to pursue a degree in Industrial Systems Technology. Curt is the son of Anna Bunting and William Bunting. He lives in Scotland Neck. Curt has two older siblings, Jesse and David. Congratulations, Curt!
