It has been a great summer

Written by

It has been a great summer. We have painted the high school building and put down some code baseboard to give the building a finished look. I want to thank all the students and especially the parents that came multiple days to help give the school a need face lift. I want to thank Sheri Rightmyer for picking out the colors because if I would have picked them it would have looked like I picked them. The gym floor has been refinished and looks great. The football field has been sprayed and fertilized and tended to by Ricky Cobb and looks as good as any we will play on this year. Our parents had a clean up day at the football field and had it spotless and ready for the season. The elementary teachers have all been given laptops and we have replaced all the computers in the classrooms with much faster units which will help with students doing their AR tests.

Even though the above accomplishments are not academic in nature everything we do is to enhance the school and to make Halifax Academy as attractive as possible. We have added four new teachers this year Cathy Rumley, Cathy Ellington, Mark Sigmon, and Melanie McLawhorn. The school year is off to a wonderful start and we are almost at the point that we will be issuing progress reports which go out September 9 from all classes and grade levels. Our enrollment is above our projected level and we hope to continue this trend and want to make Halifax Academy the first alternative for those wanting a Christian education that offers a college preparatory curriculum. Remember that there are numerous opportunities to get your work hours completed and we would like to continue the painting process with a winter project to paint the elementary hall. If you are interested please call Mary Jane in the main office. Let's make this year a year to remember at Halifax Academy by working together to encourage every student to do as well as possible and try to make our campus beautiful so every visitor goes away thinking what a great educational environment. As always my door is open for you to come and discuss anything that will improve the Academy or help your child feel more at home. Thank you and I look forward to a great year.
