Halifax Academy Class of 2025 Senior Spotlight:

William Henry Hatchett “Hatch” Morris was recently named the HA Class of 2025’s salutatorian. Hatch is a National Senior Beta Club member, serving twice as our chapter president. Hatch served as a junior marshal last year. Hatch also has been a member of the Monogram and Octagon Clubs and the Quiz Bowl Team. He has been actively involved in our Student Government Association throughout high school, most recently serving as student body president. Additionally, Hatch is a charter member of our newly established Spanish Club.
During Hatch’s time at HA, he was on the varsity swim and shooting teams. In 11th and 12th grades, he received All-Conference Awards in swimming and a 1A State Runner-Up Award. Hatch has received many accolades while participating on our Shooting Team and, most recently, was a first-place team member in District 3. Hatch will compete in the upcoming North Carolina Youth Hunter Education Skills Tournament later this month.

Outside of school, Hatch has worked as a floor manager for Jackson Food Fresh for two years. In Hatch’s spare time, he enjoys going to the beach, hunting, and doing anything related to sports. Hatch participated in the ECU Health North Hospital’s Volunteen Program last summer. He has supported many volunteer projects at HA, but his most meaningful activity was coordinating a clothes drive to support the Western North Carolina flood relief.

Hatch is the son of Betsy and Jason Morris of Jackson. He has one younger sister, Elizabeth. Hatch plans to attend North Carolina State University in the fall and major in biological sciences. Hatch aspires to be a dentist.

Congratulations, Hatch!
