Halifax Academy Class of 2024 Senior Spotlight:
We begin our Senior Spotlight series for the Halifax Academy Class of 2024 with Braxton Bennett Hammack. Braxton is a member of the Monogram Club. He lettered in football and baseball and received All-Conference and All-State Recognitions in both. He was also selected for the North Carolina/Virginia 8-Man Football All-Star Game.
Braxton enjoys hunting, golfing, and playing sports in his spare time. He has especially enjoyed playing travel baseball since he was a child. Braxton has worked for his family’s business, Quality Landscape Solutions, for the past six years, most recently as a crew leader. Upon graduation, Braxton plans to work full-time with the family’s landscaping business. Braxton is the son of Cortney and Jeremy Hammack. His older sister is Karlee, and his younger brother is Connor. Congratulations, Braxton!

Halifax Academy Class of 2024 Senior Spotlight:

Andrew “Andy” Fleming is a member of the National Senior Beta, Octagon, and Monogram Clubs. During his time at HA, he ran cross-country, swam, and played football. Andy is also a member of our Student Government Association and currently serves as senior class vice president. In Andy’s spare time, he enjoys playing the bass, visiting Lake Gaston, and spending time with friends and family.

Andy plans to attend East Carolina University in the fall and major in Construction Management. Andy is the son of Anita and Thomas Fleming. He has two older siblings, Ashleigh and Teddy, who are both HA graduates. He lives in Roanoke Rapids. 

And last but certainly not least, we complete our Senior Spotlight series with Jake Merritt. Jake is a member of the National Senior Beta and Monograms Clubs. He ran cross country and played basketball and baseball during his time at Halifax Academy. Jake received All-Conference and All-Tournament recognitions in basketball.

When Jake is not playing basketball, he enjoys playing golf and video games. He also played AAU basketball. He works for Merritt Piping and Fabrication. He also has served as a volunteer coach for the local recreation soccer and HA’s basketball little leagues.

Jake plans to attend East Carolina University in the fall and major in sports studies. He is the son of Amanda and Ryan Merritt from Roanoke Rapids. Jake has three younger siblings, Tyler, Jenny, and Dylan, who attend HA.

Halifax Academy Class of 2024 Senior Spotlight:

Congratulations to Rachel Parham on recently being named class salutatorian. Rachel is a member of the National Senior Beta and Octagon Clubs She also is a member of our Student Government Association and currently serves as student body president. She had the distinction of being a junior marshal.

In Rachel’s spare time, Rachel enjoys participating in creative endeavors, baking, singing, and studying the Bible. She is a member of River City Church, where she volunteers in various capacities.

Rachel plans to attend East Carolina University in the fall and pursue a career in nursing. She currently lives in Roanoke Rapids. Rachel is the daughter of Crystal and Robbie Parham. She has two older sisters, Whitney and Sydney.

We are happy that Jackson Vincent chose to join the HA family for his senior year.  He played basketball for HA.  Jackson received All-Tournament Team and All-Conference recognitions.  He was named Conference Player of the Year and also received All-State recognitions.  Jackson loves the game of basketball and has played AAU for four years. 

In Jackson’s spare time, he enjoys playing video games when not playing basketball.  He volunteered for the T.J. Davis Basketball Camp and the HA Middle School Basketball Team.  Jackson also has worked for Roanoke Cinema/RCE Theaters and Newsom Oil & Gas Company. 

Jackson plans to pursue a career in the computer/graphic design field.  He is the son of Karen and Kevin Vincent from Roanoke Rapids.  He has two older siblings, Brooke and Zachary.
