College Scholarships

$5,000 per year scholarships available through Kentucky Fried Chicken Colonel's Scholarship Program. Must meet the following qualifications:
1. Be a current high school senior.
2. Have a GPA of 2.75 or higher.
3. Be enrolling in a public, in-state college university.

Toyota Community Scholars.
Eligibility:
Be a high school senior with a grade point average of 3.0 or better.
Be actively involved in a service organization or project that has a positive impact on the school and/or community.
Be a U.S. citizen, U.S. national, or U.S. permanent resident.
Plan to pursue an undergraduate degree at an accredited four-year college or university in the Unites States.
Cannot be children or grandchildren of employees of Toyota Motor Sales, USA.

Best Buy Scholarship Program. This scholarship is available to students involved in volunteer community service or work experience. Application will be available in January. Apply on-line at www.bestbuy.com/scholarships.

Halifax Electric Membership Corporation Slade-Ellen Educational Scholarship are one-time grants awarded annually to two high school seniors whose parents/guardians are members of Halifax Electric Membership Corporation. The application deadline is April 1st and applications are in my office.

Selection is based on:
40% Financial Need
40% Scholastic Achievement
20% Extracurricular Achievement/Activities

AXA Achievement Scholarships are available for those who:
1. Are active in their community
2. Have led a project that benefits others
3. Have overcome personal challenges.
The deadline is December 15, 2009 and the application is available at www.axa-achievement.com.
Wendy's High School Heisman Award application is available until October 1st at www.wendyheisman.com. You must have a "B" average, participate in at least one school sponsored sport and be in the class of 2010.

The Coca Cola Scholarship application is available at www.coca-colascholars.org until October 31st.
