Halifax Academy Dress Code

All students must adhere to the Halifax Academy Student Dress Code.  The codes (by grade) are as follows:

Pre-K through 3rd Grade:

  • 1) No unusual haircuts are allowed.
  • 2) Boys are not allowed to wear earrings.  Girls may wear earrings in ears only.  No visible body rings are allowed.
  • 3) Visible tattoos are not allowed.
  • 4) Shirt tails may be worn out as long as they are reasonable and decent.
  • 5) Shoes must be worn at all times.
  • 6) Hats/caps are not to be worn in buildings.
  • 7) Baggy pants (low riders) are not allowed.
  • 8) Clothing with suggestive slogans (sex, alcohol, tobacco, violence, or profanity) is not allowed.
  • 9) Heavy chains attached to clothing are not allowed.

Student adherence to the dress code (Pre-K--3rd) will be evaluated daily at the beginning of the school day by the student's teacher.  Any offender will be sent to the Headmaster's office immediately and will return to class only after they meet the dress code standards.  They will be sent home to correct their attire or appearance if required and will be unexcused while absent.  Repeat offenders will be suspended by the Headmaster.

4th - 12th Grade

  • 1) Boys are to be clean-shaven and have no unusual haircuts.  Hair should not be touching the collar and not below the eyebrows. Neatly trimmed mustaches and /or goatees will be allowed.
  • 2) Boys are not allowed to wear earrings.  Girls may wear earrings in ears only.  No visible body rings are allowed.
  • 3) Shorts are to reach the first joint of the fingers when the student's hands are at their side. Dresses and skirts are to be no higher than mid-thigh.
  • 4) No exposed chests, midriffs, or shoulders (no tank tops, spaghetti straps, or halters).
  • 5) Sleeveless blouses are allowed.
  • 6) No see-through blouses.
  • 7) Shoes must be worn at all times.
  • 8) Shirt tails may be worn out as long as they are reasonable and decent.
  • 9) Hats/caps are not to be worn in buildings.
  • 10) baggy pants (low riders) are not allowed.
  • 11) Clothing with suggestive slogans (sex, alcohol, tobacco, violence, or profanity) is not allowed.
  • 12) Heavy chains attached to clothing are not allowed.
  • 13) Boys can wear sleeveless shirts as long as they are manufactured that way (no "homemade").

Students' adherence to the dress code will be evaluated daily at the beginning of the school day by the student's teacher (4th-6th) o homeroom teacher (7th-12th).  Any offenders will be sent to the Headmaster's office immediately and will return to class only after they meet the dress code standards.  They will be sent home to correct their attire or appearance if required and will be unexcused while absent.  In addition, they will receive Detention Hall (7th-12th). Repeat offenders will be suspended by the Headmaster.

Adherence to the Halifax Academy Student Dress Code (Pre-K--12th Grade) is required during participation in all school-related functions and practices.  This includes all locations where Halifax Academy is being represented and will be enforced by the person responsible for the students (teacher, coach.etc.)
